Giving the Finger

Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the Renowned English longbow and therefore be incapable of fighting in the future.

This famous weapon was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as "plucking the yew" (or "pluck yew").

Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, "See, we can still pluck yew! "PLUCK YEW!"

Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative 'F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the ne-finger-salute are mistakenly thought to have something to do with an intimate encounter. It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as "giving the bird."

Well, this post is pretty late, but better than never rite??? It was a Dbl O session to celebrate Wil's b-day. The freaking plan was to get him wasted, but i dun noe why, i was the only pathetic guy fighting for the cause!!!! DARN IT. It was pretty fun and i HAD FUN DROPPING A BOTTLE TOO!! dun ask me why (i'm blind) All of us had fun, and yah MANY need to work on our drinking skills........ (incl me). hmmmmmm.........wheres ROBIN tay in the pic??? Another highlight other than me and Jun hua getting HIGH was CX getting finger crushed!!! check out his puny index finger when you peeps are free!

We managed to get Wil to come down to my cosy Hall 15 hostel on his birthday nite, me cx and 'ROY' stays in the same hall. haha needless to say, this boi dun noe what was awaiting him...... rainy nite thus we had to call in the MAC. (my rice burger sucks) CH had a bottle of unfinished bourbon black (first half of it probably used to drunk gers liao....hee hee) and mr WIL HAVE TO DRINK. after his bourbon coke and spourting some nonsenses, cx and i finished him off with good O tiger! ............... and the rest.......its up to your sweet imagination!!!

Second on the blogging list? Haha, this is my first time blogging. So not very sure about wat to say also. I shall start with thanking my bro, alex for designing this wonderful blog for all of us to blog here and keep in touch; "although we mit almost every week at least once or twice". But it is a good idea for us to understand how each of us feel about life; studies, love, work, time management etc... I would also wish to extend my greatest appreciation to Alex, Chengxi and Chunhua for being part of the casts in the stupid drunkard video. Hahaha..nvr to drink again? I wondered...
