Deepavali 08 @ Shanthen's Place

Hey all, last night team 407 united had a gathering at Shanthen's place to celebrate Deepavali. Everyone had a good time especially when we recalled back the past. Moments like our secondary school team (3272), the night we watched football over at Melvin's place, our old blog posts and our very own youtube star, Wilson doing his outstanding, leg kicking performance.

Some of you may not have been with us back then but don't feel left out. We are now in the new season in our life. Most of us have graduated and are now in the working force. Lets all create a new set of memories in this next phase in life and everyone can contribute starting with a monumental victory wearing our new jersey this Sunday. Be there to be part of this new era of 407 United.

For Diabetes

Marco Aizawa, a close friend of the team, and a diabetic for 13 years has recently decided to share his lifestyle with everyone. He has established a blog; http://iblogfordiabetes.blogspot.com, that allows him to share his dream of promoting active sports to all. His blog, which started today, would consist on his passion of running and riding and his ambitions of taking part in such activities. Not only that, he would also record his daily sugar readings and advices or rather experiences on how he manages his chronic illness yet not letting himself abandon the goodness life can offer. Together with another blogger and fellow diabetic, Coreen, Marco would like to not only reach out to other diabetics but everyone else, so please show him some encouragement, check his blog out and even join him if the activities interest you too.

This could be big one day, and it would be great if 407 united is behind this; for we are more then just a team. ;)

Sausagefest FC No Match for the Knights in Red!

407 United 3 (Jinyu, Fadil, Ben)
Sausagefest FC 0

The match-up between the questionable taste in team naming; Sausagefest FC and 407 United was held at Punggol Sec Sch. With fire in their hearts and and determination overflowing 407 United push forward from the start of the whistle forcing the other team to lose their shape and composure. It didn't take long for Sausagefest to lose their plot and earn themselves the first yellow card and give away a freekick at a dangerous spot. Attacking Midfielder Fadil placed himself behind the ball to take the spot kick as team's regular taker Wilson was sidelined for medical safety. Fadil narrowly missed the freekick but 407 United continued to mount pressure on Sausagefest over and over again. A few more chances beckoned 407's way before Jinyu's amazing volley broke the deadlock.

Second half began with an improved Sausagefest side but 407 United was up for it. Brilliant reading and reactions of goalkeeper Robin made Sausagefest worked really hard to get on the scoreboard but to no avail. Though tired legs were starting to show 407 maintained their performance and Fadil was again in the action. A brilliant corner kick from Daryl was met by the head of Fadil giving 407 a two goal lead. And not long later, a composed finish by Ben sealed the game for 407 United.

The game saw the likes of Desmond Tang and Zip shine in the first half and saw the strength of midfielders Ben, Fadil, Daryl, Chengxi and Jinyu do justice to the 4-2-3-1 formation. A good display by Ivan, Desmond Van and Kelvin could not go unnoticed and Mayur earned a short introduction after being on a break. Scott and Alvin interchanged today to gather experience.
Wilson was also brought into the game becoming a menace to the opposing teams tired legs with his speedy runs. But the man for today would be and many would agree is the goalie. Robin was brilliant today in coming forward to gather loose balls and had a awesome one on one save. Today he not only earned his first man of the match but a well deserved cleansheet and a hug from Desmond Van.

Goals Galore @ Sengkang Sec Sch!!!

407 United 4 (Desmond, Wilson, Fadil, Ivan)
Joel FC 4 (Not Bothered)

As an Unbiased "Say it as it is" third person with no affiliation to either teams; none what so ever, I shall report on today's match which was held at 3pm tekong time at sengkang sec sch.
With a few key players unavailable for today's game, 407 United still managed to put up a pretty decent show unfortunately missing out the opportunity of capturing a back to back victory.

Though having a full strength defense, 407 United was made to pay for individual errors and some pathetic views from the referee. But take nothing away from the attacking force as even as they were generally a little off, they had a number of decent plays that not only produced 4 spectacular goals but brought the beautiful game to the ever so quiet Sengkang estate.

Joel FC on the other end was blah blah blah blah blah............

The only players worth mentioning today would be Desmond who scored the opening goal, Fadil who on the previous interview mentioned intensely how he wanted to get his name on the scoreboard and got his wish with an impressive long range effort that left Joel FC goalkeeper catching only air. Ivan, our long term guest player also got his name on the score sheet. Wilson with 2 assists (still checking my sources on that) and a goal under his name was impressive today though he did seemed a little tired. Rumour has it that he was seen in Bangkok in a sleazy massage parlour but confirmation on that news is not revealed during press time. But what we do know is he did missed last week training.

Goalie Robin was vocally involved today which could have benefited the team generally. Defensive Midfielders, Joshua and Chen Xi had a good game which inturn allowed out of positioned Daryl Teng to perform effectively in the middle. Defender Desmond was of course a regular nuisance to the opponent's attacking force together with Deputies, Kelvin, Scott, Alvin and Shanthen.

And Player Manager Alex got involved today playing on the right of defense midway through 2nd half. With that said it has come to the point where i name the man of the match. This however is a difficult decision but has to be taken anyway. Though Daryl had an impressive game playing in the middle which is not his prefered position, he was beaten by the player who though seemed off colour, managed to produce 2 assists and a goal. He wins the award not because of this.. but of the scandalous stories surrounding his rumored visit to Thailand.

407 triumphs on shitty pitch

407 proved their strength in spirit and game by bouncing back from last week's defeat with a resolute 2-1 win over P**** united. Other than the umpire hiccup, the pitch was the major disappointment that day, freaking $%#%$@^ number of holes.

P-manager Alex was back at the helm and with jinyu at the center of the field in the starting line up, there was a greater stability in the game play. Missing another defensive mid, top scorer kheng wee had to be shuffled into the midfield for more aggressive bite.

The team started brightly as we tried to showed our worth in the passing game and the full backs doing well in covering the counter attacks. A few decent crosses by on form wilson and kheng wee jus eluded desmond tang who were close on several occasion. But tackles came in high and late on our players throwing the game into disarray on a few occasion. Kelvin was the first casualty and we shuffled new official signing zip, highly rated player. true enough, he showed his presence at the back with touches of flair.

the 1st break came at about the mid of the 1st half, after some good work down the left by daryl his cross in eluded the keeper and desmond showed vision by squaring it to onrushing zip for his debut goal!!! WOOT cool finishing by our full back

407 managed to grab a hold onto the game with more direct passes and fardil another exciting young prospect was on for veteran ivan providing more options for daryl on the left and more pace in our forward line. the team surged forward more dispite the occasion swearing and tackles and not forgetting the generous foul throws by our opposition. We got another notch when daryl whipped in another delicious cross with desmond tang sliding in for a sweet goal 2-0.

The half was about to end on a high note but success normally hurts the head a bit, as a incredibly huge lapse in concentrate allowed the opposition to surge pass the entire right side to pull a huge scare on us, eventually we gave away a silly set piece at the edge of the box, and our keeper untroubled till that point had to hit air after caught slow back peddling back the rocky ground. 2-1

half time prep tok was spent mainly on cooling hot heads and the manager had half to mind to send some for counselling. haha the team kept to the same formation with desmond tang dropping to the right side while ben and khengwee taking the center and kelvin re drafted to the center with shantan.

the opposition started the game with more spirit, probably wanting to get back on level terms but the game was still pretty even and kelvin and shantan not the most perfect pairup but was doing fine and gaining valuable exp. in the meanwhile, ivan showed his worth by toying with the offside trap and pulling off several deft touches which our players probably could lean from. after several good work from alvin and khengwee a perfect through pass almost let ivan through but the ref gave a stupid whistle.

Khengwee later also had a volley set up by a wilson cross saved at the near post and the game was pretty alive as robin had to be on the toes for long crosses and back passes. END TO END action, wilson and zip came in back to the game with jinyu gave us addition edge as later fardil received a good ball from wilson should have done really better infront of goal.

a rough up in the game ends up with kheng wee limping off and a messy reshuffle to 4-2-3-1 had to try to hold the game tight. desmond v was back in for kw and alex for alvin. a foul was conceeded at the edge of the box, and robin was at his best to keep the lead alive with a tipping save from the free kick.

our attack kept the other side on their toes and ben could have closed the game after fine work by desmond v but close was never enough. Shanthen was having a fine game at the back and a great header helped cleared a crucial ball but he eventually gave way to a knock and kudos to his bravery in the head knock too! we eventually held on for the win and a good dinner ends the day, thanks to the supporters, Alicia, Noble and Guoxiang for the support!!! woot

Team line up: Robin, Alex, Desmond V, Desmond T, Wilson, Shantan, Alvin, Scott, Kheng Wee, Jinyu, Ben, Ivan, Fardil, Daryl

Man of Match: Zip

FR: 407 United 2 - 4 Yishun Wanderers

2 minutes into the game, referee gave a controversial freekick which was converted into a goal for the opponent. Not a very fantastic goal, but it did beat our keeper. Passing was not as fluent, our midfield was dominated and controlled by the opponents. Their one-touch passing was something that we could have adopt and learn as we grow. The referee's whistle blew for the half time break. 407 United was down 0-3.

Had a debrief by Daryl and Kw, Kw's questioned our effort and commitment towards our training attitude the past 2 weeks. "Wake up call"?

The second half kicked off beautifully; the midfield was gaining their presence. More fluent passing; the addition of Sham (Import Striker by Desmond V) was indeed a great switch to 407 side. A through ball from Jinyu went straight to Sham who dribbled past one defender before unselfishly pass the ball to Kw who did not hesitate to convert this important goal after missing his first open goal in the first half. 1-3 ! 407 was getting back into the game. Until the 4th goal by our opponents which more or less sealed the scoreline of the game. The game ended off with a fantastic long range shot from Sham who earned back the pride of 407. A great consolation goal which could be the top few beauties from 407.

Final score line: 407 United 2 - 4 Yishun Wanderers
